FAQs

I am new to therapy. What does a typical session look like?

A typical therapy session lasts 55 minutes, and you’re welcome to meet with me either virtually or in person at my office—whichever feels right for you. In our time together, we’ll focus on what matters most to you. We’ll explore your goals, the challenges you’re facing, and the progress you want to see. What you share is important, and I truly value the trust it takes to show up and be open.

Often, the stressors and frustrations that come up week to week are more connected to your bigger goals than they might seem—and part of my role is to help you uncover those patterns. Together, we’ll build insight, develop resilience, and move at a pace that supports your personal growth.

How will I know you’re the right fit?

Finding the right therapist is an important part of the healing process. You deserve to feel safe, understood, and comfortable—especially when exploring life’s more difficult moments. While therapy can include challenging conversations, you should always feel supported and secure within that space. To help you decide if we’re a good fit, I offer a free 15-minute consultation where we can connect, talk about what you’re looking for, and answer any questions you may have.

Does Candidly Speaking only work with women?

Candidly Speaking is a therapy practice dedicated to supporting all individuals who identify as women. This includes trans women and members of the LGBTQ+ community. Non-binary individuals who feel more comfortable in a woman-centered space are also warmly welcomed here. This is a place where your identity is respected, affirmed, and valued.

How long does therapy last?

The length of therapy looks different for everyone—it really depends on your unique goals, the challenges you're working through, and what you hope to gain from the process. Some people come to therapy for short-term support, while others find value in longer-term work. There’s no one-size-fits-all timeline, and that’s okay. My goal is to help you feel secure, empowered, and confident in using the tools we develop together to support your ongoing growth—both in and outside of our sessions.

Does Candidly Speaking take insurance?

Candidly Speaking is currently in-network with the following insurance companies:

CDPHP (Capital District Physicians Health Plan)

Highmark BCBS/BSNENY (BlueShield of Northeast NY)

MVP

The practice is not in-network with any other insurance companies at this time.

Candidly Speaking also accepts self-pay from individuals wanting therapy services who do not have insurance or have a different insurance than the ones mentioned above. We are able to provide any client with a “super-bill” for possible insurance reimbursement and good faith estimates when requested.

What is your availability?

The practice is currently open Tuesday-Friday. Both in-person and tele-health sessions can be scheduled throughout the week. Schedules range in time depending on the day.

Depending on current case loads, it is possible for there to be limited availability during certain times of the day. You will be notified of any limitations in scheduling during a consultation call.

Weekend sessions are currently not offered.
